Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is the most popular game in the world with a long history. Nobody knows for sure the origin story of the game of baccarat. Someone claims that the game appeared in Spain and the name of the game comes from the word "baccarat", which means zero from Italian. And the cards in the game from 10 to Ace are zero. Others argue that the game originated in France because one of the French cities is called Baccarat.

In the Middle Ages, tarot cards were used to play baccarat. In the 15th century, this was the main entertainment of the French nobility. In Russia, people began to get involved in the game of baccarat during the time of Peter the Great, when other card games appeared. Baccarat is an aristocratic game, it occupied a leading place among the card games, which were played by the nobility under Catherine II and Nicholas I. And in modern casinos, baccarat is a VIP game to attract big players.

The goal of the baccarat game is to collect a combination of cards with a score close to or equal to 9.

Cards are counted as follows:

  • ace - 1 point;
  • cards from 2 to 9 - from 2 to 9 points;
  • tens, jacks, queens and kings - 0 points.

If the sum of points is equal to 10 or more, then 10 is subtracted from it. For example, a player will have a nine and a six in his hands, i.e. 9 + 6 = 15; then from 15 you need to subtract 10 and you get 5 points that the player scored.

A player can make three types of bets:

  • Player - A bet on the player's victory. Win 1 to 1.
  • Draw - Bet on the result of a draw. Win 8 or 9 to 1.
  • Bank - A bet on the dealer's victory. Win 1 to 1 and minus 5%.

To start the game, you need to place a bet. After that, the dealer will deal cards to himself and to the player, and the winner is revealed by points. In the event that a player has a combination of cards less than 6 points in his hand, he can take a third card. If the dealer has less than two points, then he can take the third card. Provided that the player does not have an 8-point card and the dealer has only 3 points, the dealer can take a card.

Provided that the dealer has 4 points and the player's cards are not equal to 0, 1, 8, 9, the dealer can take a card. If the dealer has 5 points and the player's cards are not equal to 4, 5, 6, 7, the dealer can take a card. Also, if the dealer has 6 points and the player's cards are not equal to 6 and 7. But if the dealer has 7 points, he cannot take another card.

In the original game of baccarat, which was played by James Bond, there are no hard and fast rules of conduct when the sum of points is equal to five, i.e. the player himself can decide on the additional card. In online casino , the player only needs to place a bet and wait for the outcome of the game.
